Fire Department Tones

The Tones are Back(kinda)! And here is how it was explained to me.
"The tones no longer activate any alarm systems but it became obvious after the tones were shut off that the radio traffic all ran together and there was no distinction between normal radio traffic and an actual dispatch. We also realized that many personnel had memorized their tone and would become a more active listener when their agency was being dispatched when their tone was broadcast. It was our decision to turn back on one, two tone per agency and limit its timing as to not delay actual dispatching. The second advantage would be agencies could program two tone alerting devices in the event of alpha digital paging failure the 800 talk group could be patched to a VHF channel that would provide a backup system for paging."

It took me many hours to build this comprehensive list of all the departments. I think I have about 95% of the tones set out by SNOPAC, but I'm sure there are some I am missing. For example, individual tones for chaplains, support units and battalion chiefs.

Each tone out is accompanied by a "Warble" tone. This designates what type of call it is. With the exception of Everett and Marysville Fire, all the other departments use the same Warble tones. These can be heard in the "Warble Tones" album.
